Template Properties

Applies to: Design Mode

Any template created in either of the above programs can be assigned various properties. Although all of these properties are optional, they allow for better use of other areas of the software particularly the automated methods of ordering.

For an open template, properties are set in Design Mode>File>Properties. The Design Properties window appears.

Description

The description is used when listing the template in Form Packs Mode (or Main Mode in NeoPack/Plus). If left blank the template name will be used instead. Since the template name must conform with WindowsTM file naming protocol it may not be possible to use all characters one desires. Entering a description as a template property has no such limitation and therefore allows the user to use a more literal or "descriptive" name.

Key

Each template can be assigned a unique alpha-numeric key. This key forms the basis of all methods of ordering apart from the manual "point and click" method. For example the key is used:

  1. In a barcode for scanning orders.
  2. As a product property in tsAdministrator
  3. When entering orders directly into Form Packs Mode using keyboard shortcuts
  4. When ordering by importing a text file

Template keys must be unique. If two templates have the same key neither will work.

Price Code

An entry for a Price Code is used in the Queue>Statistics report in Form Packs Mode. This report may be exported as a text file and perhaps re-imported into accounting software where the price code can be used for invoicing and accounting purposes.

Furthermore the Price Code can also be used as a sort criteria when sorting the print queue with Queue>Sort.

Size code

In a similar way to the Price Code, the Size Code can be used in the Queue>Statistics report and as a sort criteria when sorting the print queue via Queue>Sort. This can be very useful when for example, different sections of the print queue need to be sent to different printers.
