Installing the portable 'Photographer' programs

Several of the Timestone Software programs are protected by individual "portable" dongles. (Portable dongles mean a License Server is not required.)

Each of the portable dongles activates one of the Timestone programs. Portable dongles do not require a license but are instead activated and renewed by a hexadecimal code.

The following programs are available with portable hardlocks

  • CapturePost
  • DataPost
  • PackBuilder
  • CompositeBuilder
  • GroupBuilder
  • PrintTime
  • RIPTime
  • OutPost
  • Schoolmake

(Note with the exception of CapturePost all the above programs are also available on a License Server dongle)

To install the programs:

  • Visit the support pages of the Timestone Software website www.timestone.com.au
  • Download the required program(s)
  • Follow the installation wizard to install the program(s)

Activating the hardlock:

In most cases the portable dongles are sent to you configured for the program you have purchased but not yet activated. A hexadecimal code is emailed to you to activate the dongle. The code also sets the expiry date for the dongle.

Each hardlock has a unique number. You can check your hardlock number from the Help menu. (Help>About). The hardlock number is also written on the key tag attached to the dongle.

  • Ensure the correct hardlock is plugged into the computer
  • Start the appropriate program
  • You will receive a message "Your hardlock has expired. Do you wish to enter an extend code now?
  • Click OK and enter the extend code that has been sent to you. be sure to enter the correct code for the correct dongle number

Renewing your hardlock before it expires:

In most cases the portable hardlock will expire approximately 12 months after purchase. You can check the dongle's expiry date at any time from the Help menu (Help>Hardlock expiry)

  • Each hardlock has a unique number. You can check your hardlock number from the Help menu. (Help>About). You may need to quote to us your hardlock number when it is time to renew your subscription.
  • In most cases your hardlock will expire in 12 months. You can check when your hardlock expires from the program's Help menu. (Help>Hardlock expiry)
  • You will be notified by us prior to your hardlock expiring. You will be given the option to renew your subscription
  • If you choose to renew your subscription an extend code will be sent to you for your hardlock

Renewing your hardlock before it has expired:

  1. Ensure the correct USB hardlock is plugged into the computer
  2. Start the appropriate program
  3. Go to the Help Menu and select Hardlock Expiry
  4. Enter the extend code that has been sent to you

Renewing your hardlock if it has already expired:

  1. Ensure the correct USB hardlock is plugged into the computer
  2. Attempt to start the program
  3. You will receive a message "Your hardlock has expired. Do you wish to enter an extend code now?
  4. Click OK and enter the extend code that has been sent to you

Note: The extend codes for the USB dongles are hexadecimal ie they are a combination of letters A-F and number 0-9. It is recommed you copy and paste the extend code to avoid possible transcription errors.
