    Please elaborate.

A filter that drops down all the families? Then what do you expect to see?

I would expect to see the subjects filtered by family, Like they would if they were filtered by folder. Basically, we would be using families like a separate foldering system in order to group subjects by something other than home folder, but while still retaining the other foldering features (like composites and folder fields).

One of the big uses I'd like to use this for is to keep cameras separate in SQL (for color, crop, and data reasons). As of now, half of our workflow is .tnj based, and being able to merge earlier in our workflow would obviously be preferable.
